How Much Money Do Beginner Male Models Make?

So, most of you are probably wondering how much you are going to make when first starting out in the business.

Its just a very difficult question to answer because you are not going to make any money - generally just starting out. Photographers are going to want to, you need to build up a portfolio. To build up a portfolio, basically, you need to meet photographers who will do test shoots with you. They are not going to pay you for it. You are basically getting your pictures in exchange for their time. So, they are not going to pay you.

Generally when you are just starting out, you are not going to make a lot of money. First off, the big modeling contracts really go to women first off - its usually cosmetic things and beauty ads. But, for men it will usually be the fitness magazines and fitness modeling and then once you go from there, you are not going to get these $50,000 Abercrombie contracts rights off the bat. That just all goes through just networking, knowing photographers, knowing people in town that have the connections to the advertising agencies, and to the print agencies and that's basically the way its going to go.

To model, you really have to be in the major markets. And the majors markets are obviously, New York, Los Angeles, Miami, Chicago somewhat, but not really, that much, - generally you have to be in those places to really get the lucrative modeling contracts.

If you are in any other place, it is going to be very, very difficult.

When you get to town first, its going to be tough, a lot of look-sees, go-sees, and you really just take it from there.
